26 Green Design Ideas Inspired By Nature

No matter how advanced our society and technology is, we can never forget our origins, and we will always need something green around us. Of course, the best idea is actually spending some time in the countryside, but it’s not always possible, so the only thing left is probably bringing some nature to your house instead.

Maybe you would like to stand on a living moss bath mat when you get out from the bath? Sit on a grass covered furniture, and wear a planter on your neck when you leave your house? Human creativity has no limits!

Let’s take a look at some of the most creative green design ideas inspired by nature and maybe find something for yourself.
Which one do you like the most?

1. A Wearable Planter

Posted Image

Why should your plants stay at home? They help clean the air you breathe, are beautiful, and create a wonderful conversation starter. Carry a sprout, a succulent, or a flower you found on your morning walk. (Designer: Colleen Jordan)

2. Living Moss Bath Mat

Posted Image

Posted Image

Constructed of a decay-resistant foam called plastazote, this bath mat is a nursery for three varieties of living moss: ball mass, island moss and forest moss. The humidity of the bathroom and the drops flowing from the body, water the mosses. Great feeling to your feet are guaranteed! (Designer: Nguyen La Chanh)

3. Table With Removable Planter

4. Dilston Grove

Through the application of clay, germinating grass seed, water and natural light the boundary between growth and decay, reverie and renewal was exposed within this repository of spiritual memory. The artists regarded the architectural structure as in some sense being inert, brooding and boarded up, no longer functioning in the community. Bringing memory to the surface, the living skin of grass literally drew life back within the fabric of the church. A momentary resurrection. (Designers: Ackroyd & Harvey)

5. Green Bed

Designing and setting up the supporting framework are fundamental to the success of a tree. Some are intended for harvest to be high quality indoor furniture and others will remain living art.

Ackroyd and Harvey were granted permission by the Heritage Protection Office of Riga to grow the complete exterior structure of a mausoleum in the Grand City Cemetry, the original resting place of the city’s elite 18th and 19th century merchants. Set in a tranquil setting of trees, the atmosphere of the place belies a turbulent past, with many of the tombs having been vandalised by factions of the Soviet Army in the period of occupation prior to Latvia’s independance over ten years ago.
