size is most imp. so my opinion is; under 50 MB (if the movie quality is good) or should be under 200 MB.

most people who have low speed will prefer not to download at all even if its under 50 mb, cause the quality normally will not be on top.. but if their is a request from uyirvani, definatly we should do it

i want to know how many actually would like the service ?

good idea man.that will be nice for the dial upusers and i havent seen any websites doing it.I am surprised that you could compress a movie to 50 mb and also surprised you havent done that before as there is a huge number of indian users on this forum unlike many other tamil forums.
As for broadband users i think any movie that plays around 350kbps is fine Cos if you go lower that that then there is little point of providing the large movie.
just my opinion

For me the quality is a great factor.Because a movie is not for watch but I keep these movies as my collection.
But the size is a great factor.I can not download a big file.
So I prefer good quality of movies but splitted in different parts.
e.g a 700 mb movie in 10 parts (Each of 70 mb)
and dhill you have uploaded a movie Aankhen which is 27 mb.This kind of movie is good for dial up user, who can not watch any movie because of size problem.
But that quality is worst ever I have seen. The sound is ok.But when I want to see that movie in media player with full screen then I can not see the faces of the characters.

I would prefer DVD-RIP's.
For eg. 2 parts each of size 650 - 700 mb. Each part could be further made smaller into chunks of 70 mb as Avik suggested. Yes I too agree, it will be a good idea to release movies in different sizes/quality.
Thanks Dhil for coming up with this idea.

great guys, u dont have to thank me, i mean this website is for entertainment, and i need to know why my users opinion is, no idea in uploading too big stuff which never gets downloaded.. the movie which was 27 mb, actually most people can download this movie within 40 mins to 1 hour.. but see the quality and the size normally follow each other...
i think in future some movies will get compromised into 50mb size, and into 350 mb files,

lets see, it takes a lot of time to compress

or its better if we do this way..
convert wmv files in to rmvb files...it reduces size to the great extend but the quality remains the same..
a 700mb movie file can be compressed to 150-200mb,no effects to quality or to the sound, all remain the same...

I guess all the available qualitiez should be posted .. that way the user has a choice of wat they want/need .. i would personally prefer da highest quality like a DVD Rip ... DIVX/XVID .. This way u would be caterin' to people who r havin' dial up as well who r on broadband/cable or even T1 linez i guess ... Ultimately itz the satisfation of the user and he/she would have a choice ... u could seggregate the movies in diff sectionz like DVD Rips/superior quality and then lower cam rip ..

Its everyones wish dream to give the best service, but its impossible to full fill it, if we should upload all movies in all quality, first we need super servers and we need more than 50 hours pr day
