The long-standing romance of one of the most enjoyable on screen combinations will soon be forged into wedlock. Come Sep 11, Surya and Jyothika will exchange vows. It’s been quite a long wait, considering the fact that their courtship has been on for nearly 5 years now. It all started on the sets of their first film together, ‘Poovellam Kettuppar’, their careers have come a long way since then, so has their romance, which seems to have gone from strength to strength.



However it has not been a bed of roses for the young pair. The reason for their marriage being delayed all these years has been the opposition to their relationship from Surya’s family. It was not clear whether consent was ever going to come, but the two of them remained confident. The suspense had been on for a long time when out of the blue, Sivakumar, Surya’s father came forward and announced the date of the marriage. This was a big surprise for the media, which had been trying all these years to get some clues. It also seem to have taken Surya and Jyothika by surprise, both of them had been in Switzerland for the final works of ‘Sillenu Oru Kadhal’ which might well be their last film together.

The other details are that the marriage ceremony on Sep 11 will be a low key affair with Only family friends taking part. The next day, a function will be held at the Mayor Ramanathan auditorium.

Amidst all this Surya and Jyothika seem to have been silently planning their life after marriage for quite a long time now. They have already built a luxurious bungalow into which they plan to move shortly after their marriage. They also have honeymoon plans ready; they intend to fly back to Switzerland soon after marriage.

They also seem to have planned well in advance to get settled as soon as possible. They have reportedly arranged finance to buy a shopping complex/mall in Mumbai.

The cost reportedly runs into a mammoth 19 crores. The pair certainly seems to have been thinking about their future for a long time now. The only regret that film buffs will have is that Surya-Jyothika chemistry will not be seen on screen again. But, that apart, the couple certainly has the blessings and prayers of everyone who watches Tamil movies.

Meanwhile, the makers of Sillenu Oru Kadhal will be hoping that the euphoria created by the marriage will help the film on its way to success. Hoping that it is a typical story of ‘ they live happily ever after’ for Surya and Jyothika.
