Despite repeated obstacles, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu’ finally made it to the release date. Now, the latest obstacle came from Kamal himself!
As everyone knows, the original producer Kaja Moideen tried to commit suicide over financial problems. Seventh Channel’s Manicka Narayanan settled his debts and took over production of the film. Only Kamal’s fee remained to be paid – a mere 75 lakhs! After the dubbing, he gave Kamal an undated cheque and asked him to deposit the cheque a couple of days before the film’s release.
Since the film’s release date was announced for today, Kamal did just that, but unfortunately, the cheque bounced due to lack of funds. If the film gets released, Kamal may not see the money due to him, so he took action. He wrote a letter to the Nadigar Sangam explaining the situation and ending the note with, “The film should not be allowed to be released till the amount is settled.”
Nadigar Sangam was galvanized into action and sent an order to the lab that the boxes should not be sent till the amount to Kamal was settled. In connection with this, a discussion was held yesterday at the Sangam premises with President Sarath Kumar.
Eventually, Narayanan settled Kamal’s dues and the matter ended amiably.
So, the lucky fans get to see ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu’ as per schedule!
